Online Sunday Parent Group
All parents are invited to a regular weekly online discussion on Sundays at 10am on How to Talk So Kids will Listen and Listen so Kids Will Talk. If you are like most of us, you have been talking to your kids a lot and have probably at times felt like they weren’t listening. Join a group of parents for reflection, discussion, and companionship as we navigate the waters of parenting- which is best done together. Facilitator is Clint Stretch. Come to one meeting, or two, or all of them. Just come when you can!
The Secret Message of Jesus: In-person class (not zoom)
Nine Weekly Sessions starting Wednesday, September 22
10:30am to 11:45am in Rm. 109
Register Anytime
As part of the church-wide focus on how to study the Bible we will be using Brian McLaren’s book, The Secret Message of Jesus. Jesus taught primarily through story telling. He was masterful at understanding context and his audiences. During this Bible study you are invited to see through the eyes of an archaeologist attempting to uncover new pieces of stories that are probably familiar to you, making it more illuminating to see through fresh eyes. With each session we will explore how the story is being told, who is telling it, when it is occurring, under what circumstances, and how many versions we may have seen. Anne Wilson will facilitate the class. We will study Parts I and II in the fall and the remainder in the winter. To register for the course contact christian@fairlingtonumc.org or 703.671.8557 x106. Our Journey on the Way
This group meets online at 10am Sunday to study and support each other in their Christian walk. We study a variety of subjects related to our faith, always as holy friends. This fall we continue our examination of social justice issues as well as spirituality. Our facilitator is Ken Chadwick, and we meet online Sunday mornings at 10am. Email Christian to get connected to the class.
Relational Small Groups
A small group is an opportunity for individuals to grow in their faith and relationship with God by spending time with others engaged in conversation. The hope is that Christian friendship will develop and our love of God will grow. You spend time with others talking and hanging out! There is no curriculum, the group will choose what it will do. You might read a book together, or you might reflect on the sermon each week, or you might read scripture together. It is up to you and your group! Groups will start at certain times of year, but we will find a group for anybody who desires to join one. If you would like to join a small group, contact Rev. Christian White at christian@fairlingtonumc.org
