CHILDREN AT FAIRLINGTON

On Sunday

Worship is the most important thing that we do as a community of faith. Children are always welcome to be part of worship. If your young ones need more space to move around and play, you are invited to use the family room in the back of the balcony. Adults continue to engage in worship and kids have the freedom to be themselves.

Sunday morning discipleship

Big Faith (9:30 - 10:30 AM):

  • Primary Group (9:30-10:30AM): This group is for 0-5 years olds and will take place in the Room 211.
  • Elementary Group (9:30-10:30AM): This group is for kids who are in 1st to 5th Grade and will be in Room 309.

Children’s Church (10:30AM-12:00PM):

  • Children ages 0-1st grade are invited to be dropped off in Room 212 beginning at 10:30AM for parents who are attending worship. Children who are in Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and 1st Grade will be escorted into worship for Let the Children Come. After the story time, Pre K and K children will be escorted back to Room 212 for play time.
  • Children 2nd – 5th grade are invited to join their parents in worship and then go to the front of the sanctuary for Let the Children Come. Parents are also invited to come forward with their children if they want. After the story time, children 1st to 5th grade will be escorted to Room 213 for a time learning and play.

More Information on Children’s Church (10:30AM-12:00PM):

  • On some Sundays, when the weather is good, we will take the children on the playground for outdoor play time. If you arrive at 212 or 213, and the children are not there, please go out to the playground for pick up.
  • On some Sundays, children in 1st – 5th grade will be taken to another location in the building for the lesson of the day (often the Chapel, Parlor, or Fellowship Hall). Pick up will remain in Room 213.
  • On Communion Sundays when there is no Let the Children Come during worship, children are invited to leave worship under the direction of a volunteer and attend Children’s Church after the Gospel Reading. Parents can also escort their children to Children's church.
  • At Fairlington, Communion at Christ’s Table is open to all, including children. On Communion Sundays, all children will be escorted back to the worship space and reunited with their families to have Communion. Children who are not able to dip the bread in the juice will receive support from the server. Children who do not want their bread dipped in the juice will be offered a piece of bread. Children who are not able to eat bread will receive a blessing from the clergy person.
  • When group sizes are significantly larger than usual OR smaller than usual, we will make adjustments at the time and do our best to alert you to the changes.

People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, 'Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.'
