• FUMC Mission trip to North Carolina

    Veteran's weekend november 8-11 2019

North Carolina Disaster Response Trip -- Veteran's Weekend 2019.

Last February we sent a team of almost 20 volunteers to help in Tarboro/Princeville, NC, where homes had been completely flooded out. The trip provided our team an opportunity to show God’s love through our work. It also allowed the team members to share and get to know each other better through devotionals and shared experiences. The trip was a blessing for all who participated and made progress toward getting the residents back in their homes.
We plan on returning to this area over the Veterans Day weekend 8-11 Nov 2019. A small advance team will be spending a few more days from 6-11 November if you would like to help with that effort. The need for assistance in this area to recover from flooding is large and any labor we can provide is greatly appreciated. If you would like to help contact Mike Moss amoss18554@aol.com or Mark Griffin mdgriffin3@verizon.net for details.

When: We plan to leave Fairlington on Friday, november 8

return Monday, november 11 - veteran's day weekend

We are being asked to help in the town of Princeville, NC.  If you look this up it has an interesting history dating back to 1865 when freed slaves established it as a town.  It is not a wealthy town but seems to have a lot of pride.  It is across the TAR River from Tarboro where the NCUMC has set up a disaster relief office in an old Public Health Service building.  They have set up berthing and use it for administrative purposes.
