Fairlington United Women in Faith

United Methodist Women

is now

United Women in Faith!

On March 3, 2022, United Methodist Women rebranded as United Women in Faith. We have had many names over our 150+ year history, but our guiding purpose to put faith, hope, and love in action for women, children, and youth has NOT changed. This fresh approach to our sisterhood, welcoming new ideas to re-energize our current members and to attract new women to join us in our spiritual development and mission work is an exciting – yet unknown – direction for most of us.

Fairlington United Women in Faith are women from different backgrounds and professions brought together by a common spiritual connection and a desire to be in mission with women, children and youth. We work together to serve our community, develop leadership skills, and promote spiritual growth. All women at FUMC are welcome to participate and join our monthly events as we seek to be Faith, Hope and Love in Action.

Annual Activities

  • Virtual Activities

In addition to in-person activities like our quarterly Book Discussion Group, FUWF uses Zoom to stay connected. We also have a private Facebook page and a group email list so members can access current information about our activities. Contact the FUWF Leadership Team.

  • Crafts for Kids

Each month FUWF hosts a craft time and free book distribution for children during ALIVE!’s last Saturday Food Distribution at the Armstrong Recreation Center. Contact Kathy Richards. Paused during pandemic.

  • UMCOR Kits

We coordinate FUMC’s collection of items for UMCOR School and Health Kits during the Virginia Annual Conference in June. New coordinator needed.

  • Supporting Local Organizations

Local organizations working with women and children count on FUWF member participation to boost ‘fun’draising activities. Whether it’s the annual walk-a-thon for ALIVE!, creating silent auction items for Just Neighbors and Rising Hope UMC ministries or sewing for Days for Girls, each activity advances UWF missions. Contact the FUWF Leadership Team.

  • Fund Raising

FUMW financially supports local, national and international organizations working with women, children and youth. Proceeds from your purchases of our bedding plants and flowers, nuts, chocolates and gift tins, White House Historical Society ornaments and the Kingdom Market supplement our personal pledges.
